These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you or the entity you represent (“Customer”, “you”, or “your”) and Roled (“Roled”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Roled platform, including the Roled Console, APIs, authentication services, and related documentation (collectively, the “Services”).
By creating an account, integrating our APIs, signing up for an access plan, or using any part of Roled, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use our Services.
Acceptance of Terms and Authority
By using Roled, you confirm and warrant that:
- Age of Majority – You are at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction and legally capable of entering into binding contracts.
- Organizational Authority – If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have full legal authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
- Compliance with Laws – Your access to and use of Roled will comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws, regulations, and industry standards.
What Roled Provides
Roled is a developer platform designed to centralize user, role, permission, and project access management across multiple applications. By acting as a shared system for authorization and role control, Roled eliminates the need to rebuild role-based access control (RBAC) and user management infrastructure for every project.
Our Services include access to the Roled Console, developer APIs, OAuth2-based authentication support, project registration tools, and fine-grained access control configurations.
Flexible User Management Models
Roled supports two primary architectural models to manage user access and roles across your applications. You may choose the model that best fits your project requirements:
- Fully Managed Users – In this model, user identity data is stored and managed within Roled. Authentication is performed seamlessly through dedicated Roled Auth pages using standard OAuth2 flows. Upon successful authentication, users are redirected back to your application with verified access tokens.
- Decoupled Users (Bring Your Own Users) – In this model, primary user data and authentication remain entirely within your own application systems. Your application integrates with Roled using external user identifiers to manage roles and permissions across projects. Roled maps access control policies to your external IDs without requiring password storage or authentication handling for those users on our platform.
Regardless of the integration model selected, you are responsible for configuring appropriate roles, permissions, and project associations within your Roled account.
Service Plans & Early Adopter Plan Terms
Roled currently operates exclusively under an Early Adopter Plan. By participating in the Early Adopter Plan, you agree to the following specific conditions:
- Early Access & Evaluation – The Early Adopter Plan grants you access to our centralized user and role management features to build, test, and deploy authorization for your projects during our early access phase.
- Evolving Platform Features – As an early adopter, you acknowledge that features, management interfaces, API endpoints, and platform tools may be updated, expanded, or refined as we continue to enhance Roled. We strive to maintain backward compatibility and will communicate notable API changes.
- Service Availability – While we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure reliability, performance, and high availability, the Services under the Early Adopter Plan are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis without dedicated uptime SLA guarantees.
- Future Plan Modifications – We reserve the right to introduce commercial subscription tiers, usage quotas, or updated pricing structures in the future. Should we introduce paid plans or modify the terms of the Early Adopter Plan, we will provide you with at least thirty (30) days prior written notice via email or through the Roled Console before any financial obligations take effect.
Your Account and Security Responsibilities
To access and manage your projects, you must register for a Roled account through the Roled Console.
- Account Credentials – You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, API tokens, client secrets, and administration keys.
- Account Activity – You accept full responsibility for all activities, API requests, and administrative actions that occur under your account or credentials, whether authorized by you or not.
- Security Practices – You agree to implement strong security practices, including safeguarding client secrets and promptly removing access credentials for former team members.
- Prompt Notification – You must notify us immediately at support@roled.io if you suspect or discover any unauthorized access to your account, compromised API keys, or security breaches affecting your Roled integration.
Customer Data and Privacy
You retain full ownership of all data, information, external identifiers, role mappings, and content submitted or configured by you or your end users through Roled (“Customer Data”).
- License to Serve – You grant Roled a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, and display Customer Data solely to operate, maintain, protect, and deliver the Services in accordance with your project configurations.
- Data Privacy Adherence – We process all personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You represent and warrant that you have obtained all necessary rights, permissions, and consents from your end users to collect, process, and transfer Customer Data to Roled.
- Decoupled User Data Protection – When utilizing the Decoupled Users model, Roled primarily stores role assignments, permission rules, and external user IDs. Primary personal profiles and credentials remain under your exclusive control and data management policies.
- Aggregated & Telemetry Data – Roled may collect de-identified, aggregated usage data and operational metrics regarding platform performance, API request volume, and feature usage to analyze platform performance, enhance security, and improve our platform. Aggregated data does not identify individual users or disclose confidential Customer Data.
Acceptable Use and Restrictions
You agree to use Roled strictly for lawful development, authorization, and project management purposes. You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the underlying source code or algorithms of the Roled platform, console, or APIs.
- Use Roled to transmit viruses, malware, trojans, spyware, or any other harmful code designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit computer software or hardware.

- Use Roled for any unlawful, deceptive, fraudulent, defamatory, or malicious activities, or in violation of applicable privacy laws.
We reserve the right to audit API usage patterns and suspend or restrict access to accounts that violate these acceptable use guidelines or threaten system integrity.
Intellectual Property and Feedback
Roled and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest, including all intellectual property rights, in and to the platform, Roled Console, APIs, documentation, brand assets, and any software or enhancements developed by us.

- Feedback – If you submit suggestions, feature requests, ideas, or feedback regarding Roled, you grant us an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, incorporate, and exploit such feedback without restriction or financial obligation to you.

- Exceptions – Confidential Information does not include information that is publicly known through no fault of the Receiving Party, already known prior to disclosure, independently developed without reference to Confidential Information, or required to be disclosed by applicable law or legal process.
Suspension and Termination
- Termination by You – You may terminate these Terms at any time by closing your account in the Roled Console and ceasing all use of our APIs and Services.
- Termination by Roled – We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Services upon notice if you materially breach these Terms, violate acceptable use restrictions, fail to cure a breach within fifteen (15) days of notice, or if required by law.
- Emergency Suspension – We reserve the right to temporarily suspend access immediately if we reasonably suspect that your account or integration poses an active security risk, rate limit abuse, or threat to the platform or other users.
- Effect of Termination – Upon termination, your right to access the Roled Console and APIs will immediately end. Sections governing Intellectual Property, Customer Data, Limitation of Liability, Warranties, Confidentiality, and Governing Law shall survive termination.
